| An intensive, after-school
program for children with severe mental
health problems is offered on-site at the Clinic. |
 |
|
Designed
for children ages 5-10 with mental health needs too severe
for remediation through outpatient treatment, this program
assists each child in developing respect of self and others,
acquiring a sense of responsibility for actions and increasing
positive social skills and coping skills. A nurturing,
therapeutic environment provides children the opportunity to
safely act out their disruptive, impulsive, aggressive and
socially maladaptive behaviors and experience a corrective
and emotionally supportive response from trained staff.
Treatment includes participation in skill building activities,
individual and group adjunctive therapies and psychotherapy;
all provided through a multidisciplinary approach with therapists,
mental health rehabilitation specialists, program aides,
clinical supervisors and psychiatric support.
