Clinical Therapist (Bilingual Spanish Speaking Preferred )

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80-years of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have an immediate opening for aClinical Therapist.

Responsibilities: As a full-time team member, Therapists who are currently registered with a licensing board primarily handle cases as assigned and perform intakes for mental health services. Therapists interview and collect information from clients/families/caretakers, identify symptoms, make diagnoses and develop therapeutic treatment plans, run therapy groups for children & families/caregivers, plan and administer therapeutic treatment within accepted professional and Clinic guidelines, teach social skills and anger management techniques, travel in the community to make home/school on-site visits, and counsel clients with accepted methods. Therapists work on a team with Family Advocates and others. They consult with clinical supervisors, psychiatrists, Clinic staff or others and timely complete required paperwork using an electronic system and submit complete and timely paperwork. Other duties may be assigned. Actual work hours and ssignments vary by program.

Requirements: Positions require a master’s degree or “equivalent” (Ph.D., Psy.D., MSW, MA or MS), CURRENT licensing board registration plus clinical experience. Supervised clinical hours for master’s level clinicians obtaining hours toward licensure is provided. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability, experience with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health paperwork and licensure are highly desired. Clinic workers must also complete tests for TB and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice. Own car, valid CA driver license and insurable driving record are also required.

Salary & Benefits: These positions are placed on the Clinic’s Non-Management Salary Plan; pay depends on hours completed toward licensure/licensure status. Additional pay is earned for bilingual Spanish speaking ability and 24/7 client services programs. Clinical Supervisors

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80-years of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have immediate openings for Clinical Supervisors who meet either the Board of Behavioral Sciences' or Board of Psychology's requirements to supervise staff completing clinical hours toward licensure. Supervisors must meet or exceed their respective licensing Board's requirements to supervise staff collecting hours toward licenses by providing mental health services. We are specifically searching for a licensed clinical social worker with experience supervising community based mental health services.

Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Supervisors work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing mental health services to children and their families/caregivers by providing clinical supervision to staff obtaining hours towards licensure in their respective disciplines, within Clinic and Board standards and performing related duties. Some positions may include a client case load and/or part-time status, depending on duties performed. All Supervisors also timely complete required notes and chart/note reviews, manage supervisees client schedules to ensure approriate services delivery and case load to meet or exceed service delivery requirements, attend meetings, initiate scheduling of clinical supervision, provide staff trainings, evaluate staff clinical skills and meet client service delivery requirements, depending on actual duties performed. Supervisors are responsible for completion and submission of written reports addressing review of supervisees chart documentation, evaluating staff performance and reviewing client records using an electronic health records system for timeliness and appropriateness of services. Supervisors may be assigned to Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health or other programs. Other duties will be assigned.

Requirements: Minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent (MSW, MA, Ph.D., PsyD, or MS) plus licensure and clinical experience and/or training directly related to children and child counseling. Clinical Supervisors must have and maintain current, valid licensure and sufficient years of experience to provide supervision to staff obtaining hours, per their respective Board requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of Board and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health requirements and community based services delivery highly preferred. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability is also highly desired.

Salary, Hours and Benefits: DOE/DOQ, depending upon program, plus experience and licensure status. ISM Program Coordinator (Bilingual Spanish Speaking Ability Required)

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over 80 years of service to the children and families of the Central and South Los Angeles. The Clinic has received new funding to work with collaborative partners to provide culturally competent services in South Los Angeles, in a community with a highly concentrated Latino population. Services will be provided to clients of all ages who have a chronic physical condition as well as the need for mental health and/or substance abuse treatment. The Coordinator will serve as a member of the Clinic’s Management Staff primarily responsible for successful leadership of program objectives and outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities: The ISM Program Coordinator will report to the Clinic's Vice President of Programs to oversee centralized client scheduling, create immediate access to care, slot clients according to available funding streams, and maintain overview of efficacy of resource management by program, by service provider via data collection and management. Management Staff positions require ongoing collaboration with clinical program division leaders, written reports to Executive Management and ongoing, collegial work with other Clinic staff members.

The Coordinator will monitor Outreach, Engagement and Education (OEE), Integrated Care and Support (ICS), and Peer-based Enhanced Services, Linkage and Advocacy (PESLA) services through weekly direct supervision of all ISM staff including ongoing daily monitoring of progress notes; with each chart to be reviewed at least every 3 months to include both Department of Mental Health (“DMH”) documentation of services and ISM-specific documentation; assure the maintenance of documentation of all OEE activities including review of schedules for events, materials for outreach, engagement, and education; review monthly log of OEE and ICS service, outcome, and satisfaction data is being collected as required; and holding the Integration Mechanism Advisory Council meeting on a quarterly basis to monitor the success of the services integration mechanism. The Coordinator will supply a monthly ISM Program Coordinator report on the status of program activities to the LACGC Executive Team.

Based on an ongoing review of data, the ISM Program Coordinator is responsible for meeting/exceeding program performance targets to ensure a consistently high level of services by making modifications when activities do not meet performance expectations.

The Coordinator will supervise all ISM project staff, including administrative, support and direct service staff. This will include the required level of clinical supervision to the unlicensed clinical staff required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. All direct service staff will receive both individual and group supervision, with group supervision being oriented to promoting collaborative teamwork among the ISM staff. Other duties will be assigned.

Skills/Education & Requirements: At least a Masters’ level (in public health, public administration or an area of clinical psychology) licensed mental health professional with the management/supervision skills to successfully oversee the implementation and oversight of all administrative, clinical, and contract compliance and current registration with a California licensing board.

Knowledge of National Council of Behavioral Healthcare access models, high management aptitude demonstrated in positions of increasing responsibility over time which require collegiality with experienced managers in mental health settings; Assertive, results-oriented, high energy, collegial, can-do attitude; Ability to work independently; Demonstrated history of building strong relationships with a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations; Excellent bilingual Spanish speaking oral skills, written, data analysis and computer skills using electronic records systems/databases are also a must; Demonstrated passion for and commitment to assist individuals accessing services that lead to increased wellness. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage in a change environment and knowledge of/ability to quickly learn multiple LA County systems of mental health services is also required.

At least five years of experience managing a team of staff in a community behavioral health setting is highly preferred. Experience working in a community behavioral mental health setting in an urban, inner city area is preferred; Own, reliable transportation, a valid California driver license and driving record insurable by the Clinic are required.

Hours, Rate & Benefits: This position is placed on the Management Salary Plan and works full-time on a to-be-arranged schedule. Annual salary range depends upon licensure and experience level. Director of Early Intervention & Community Wellness

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with a history of service to the children and families of Central & South Los Angeles. We have an immediate opportunity for a full-time Director to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities: Under the consultative supervision of the Vice President of Programs, the Director leads the Early Intervention Training Institute and a separate division of mental health services focused on providing services to very young children and their families/caregivers by directing, coordinating, supervising, and participating in multi-disciplinary teams providing intensive mental health services for children and the families/caregivers who support them in the early intervention day treatment, outpatient and other funded programs. This position: maintains responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the programs within budgetary expectations; monitors programs for quality and continued program development; monitors levels of productivity; supervises staff, which may include lower level managers and professional and paraprofessional program staff, implements policies and procedures and participates in staff development; meets or exceeds approved program performance indicators, i.e. census and productivity requirements; networks with peers; uses appropriate initiative, submits reports; assists in writing of grants; remains abreast of current and emerging clinical and children’s services delivery issues, provides trainings and performs other, related duties. Other duties will be assigned.

Skills: Strong initiative, organization, communication and teamwork skills are a must, as is the ability to maintain a calm demeanor while handling multiple tasks without losing productivity. Licensure as a psychologist, marriage and family counselor, clinical social worker, is required, as is a minimum of four years of direct, related clinical experience and training, training experience and at least two years of experience in general administration and supervision. Demonstrated knowledge of the social dynamics and economics of low-income urban communities, early intervention principles/programs and ability to work collegially in a multiethnic environment required. Employees at this level of management assume considerable administrative and managerial responsibility for the leadership of a the EITI and a distinct division of mental health services by assuming and displaying appropriate initiative and sound independent judgment.

Family Advocate - Outpatient Services (Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred)

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with a 80-year history of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have an opening for a Family Advocates in our Outpatient Program at the Exposition Park location.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Family Advocate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing case management and mental health services for severely emotionally disturbed children and the family/caregivers who support them, providing walk-in screenings and ongoing outpatient and school-based mental health services.

The Family Advocate works with various multi-disciplinary teams to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of a service plan for each client that identifies the client’s personal, social, emotional, mental health, education, physical and/or financial needs and goals. Reviews and collects information related to the client’s socio-economic history, treatment history, education history and other relevant data to the formulation of a service plan. Participates with staff in providing screening services to clients who attend the Clinic’s services, including completion of pay or financial information (PFI’s) forms and other needed/assigned documentation. Attends case conference meetings to assist and participate in case disposition and follow-up. Mediates and advocates on behalf of the client to help him/her obtain and keep suitable foster care/housing, health care and mental health service, education/school services, benefit entitlements, etc. Searches the community and presents options for additional needed or desired services (ei., emancipation services; sober living opportunities; education enrichment; scholarships, grants or job training programs; age-appropriate social opportunities; parenting classes). Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Requirements: The position requires a BA/BS in social work or related field OR a license as an LVN or LPT, with an emphasis in community mental health work; a valid CA driver license and insurable driving record to make home, school, job site/or other community-based visits to assist the client in living, learning and working successfully. Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish ability highly preferred.

Salary: $16.12 to $16.70 (salary differential for Spanish speaking also available) Hours: full-time.

Receptionist/Support Clerk (Bilingual English/Spanish)

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80-year history of service to the children of Central and South Central Los Angeles.  We have three immediate openings for bilingual Receptionist/Support Clerks to work full time, day shifts, primarily Monday through Friday.  These positions are assigned to usually work at one of three sites and will be assigned to work at any location in reception/support clerk tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities: The Receptionist/Support Clerk will answer phone calls and route calls, take and deliver messages, greet clients and answer questions, collect client paperwork and update client information, check and schedule appointments, perform medical insurance/Medi-Cal verifications, follow-up by phone on future appointments, greet and assist Clinic visitors and vendors and similar tasks in connection with assigned job duties, keep reception/waiting area tidy, and other similar job duties.

Be part of a team managing client and clinic data on both the Clinic’s EHR – Clinic Management Software System (aka ProFiler) and through a Clinic computer connected to the LA County Department of Mental Health Information System (DMH-IS).  As a team member, the Receptionist/Support Clerk is assigned to complete scheduling and support tasks using the ehrs for clinician’s assignments and clients’ data. The Receptionist/Support Clerk will access the computerized record system regarding clients to verify previous services, confirm current services; obtain MIS numbers for new services; input, update, verify, correct, track, print and distribute as necessary client profile (PFI) and other confidential information.  This position works at one of three sites or rotates between all three sites depending on the need for coverage. This position also travels between all sites, within a six-mile radius; must have own reliable transportation, valid California driver license and driving record insurable by the Clinic.   Other duties will be assigned.

Skills & Requirements:The position requires the following: the ability to speak correct English and Spanish; dependability to work all assigned hours; a pleasant and professional demeanor in dealing with clients and telephone callers; good basic knowledge of all general office machines including a multi-line phone system; neat handwriting, correct spelling, and the ability to take clear, accurate messages; the ability to remain calm and helpful while juggling multiple tasks in a busy medical-type office reception area and excellent computer skills to complete daily tasks.

Hours: Monday through Friday, to be assigned.

Pay: $11.58 – $12.72 per hour.

Data Entry Clerk (Full-time)

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80 -year history of service to the children of Central and South Central Los Angeles. We have a position available for an experienced Data Entry Clerk to work in our billing department.

Duties, Responsibilities & Requirements: This position requires excellent proficiency in electronic databases to complete billing as well as other electronic health records systems' data entry as part of this position's responsibilities to perform general clerical duties in the billing department. The successful applicant will act as part of a team managing client and clinic data in paper and electronic charts using both an in-house computerized database and through a Clinic computer interfaced with the LA County Department of Mental Health Management Information System. As a team member, Data Entry Clerks may be assigned to any Clinic program, as needed and will perform various program support duties that may require consistent communication with mental health service providers while effectively using the Clinic's electronic mental health records database, which may include as scheduling/rescheduling services in a timely manner, reviewing database and printed reports, and database workflows. This position requires travel in own car between at least the Clinic's three locations within a six mile area.

The Data Entry Clerk will access information regarding clients to verify previous services and confirm current services; Schedule initial and updated service provider client schedules into the data system; Reconcile billings; Obtain MIS numbers for new services; Input, update, verify, correct, track, print and distribute as necessary client profile and other information; Compile, update, sort, verify, correct, print and track computer reports of various billings and billing types; Verify billing accuracy; Verify chart entries vs. billings; Type, file, email, photocopy, fax, share in answering information requests, and perform other similar clerical duties; Attend meetings as required to stay current with data entry requirements and protocols. Other duties will be assigned, and duties assigned will be organized as workflows require.

The position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, timely work habits; excellent computer skills, an extremely high accuracy rate in data entry, a very high level of attention to the details of record keeping, the ability to spot, assess and self-correct errors, a consistently collegial demeanor, and the ability to maintain a high level of personal productivity in a very busy office environment handling a high volume of paper, charts, electronic data, and information. Minimum of a high school diploma required and at least one year data entry experience in an electronic health records system that includes billing/coding experience required. A valid, CA driver license with a driving record insurable by the Clinic and reliable transportation are also required.

Hours: Full time, forty hours per week. Actual work schedule to be determined by need of department -- this position may work at any Clinic location as part of the department team.

Access Center Director

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health services clinic with over 80 years of service to the children and families of Central and South Central Los Angeles. We seek a dynamic, experienced leader with a passion for urban, community services to redesign the Access Center as the Clinic prepares for healthcare reform.

Duties, Responsibilities:Reporting to the Clinic's Vice President of Programs, the Director oversees centralized client scheduling, creates immediate access to care, slots clients according to available funding streams, and maintains overview of efficacy of resource management by program, by service provider via data collection and management.  These tasks require ongoing collaboration with clinical program division leaders.

The Director will initiate the redesign of existing Walk-In services  according to National Council of Behavioral Healthcare access models to streamline workflows that reduce client wait times and no show rates as well as result in full program case loads by leading a team of staff at the master's and bachelor's levels.  This position requires adherence to consistent data collection and review.  Access Center documentation of these activities is completed timely using electronic health records and data systems of reporting.  The Director is responsible for meeting Access Center deliverables by managing with data to include no-shows, client wait times, division caseloads, and other services management activities.

Quality improvement activities include oversight of Access Center data and measures, regular and ongoing chart monitoring and ensuring that assessment and client documentation meet the Clinic's Standards of Effective Care.  The Director provides Executive Management with at least monthly written reports from several sources using measurement tools that assure timely access to treatment within established time frames as well as other reports as requested.  Other duties will be assigned.

Child & Family Specialist - Wraparound Program

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80 year history of service to the children of Central and South Central Los Angeles. We have a position available for a Child and Family Specialist in the Clinic's Wraparound mental health services program in the Intensive Services Division.

Duties & Responsibilities: Specialists work on a team providing services to children and their families/caregivers involved in the Los Angeles County foster care, probation and/or mental health systems using a Wraparound services delivery model. In Wraparound, the team does "whatever it takes" to assist high need children to be successful in school, home and their communities with the goal being to maintain children in community settings. Specialists work together with Facilitators and parent partners; participate on the Child and Family Team; work directly with the children and family/caregivers as outlined on the Plan of Care with services provided in the field, including but not limited to in homes, out-of-home placement(s), schools and/or in the community with the goal of achieving/preserving a permanent placement for the child(ren). Services provided will include but are not limited to mental health, crisis intervention and case management per requirements of a Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Services contract. Use of own car, and timely completion of duties including but not limited to timely documentation of services using an electronic health records system and a Clinic assigned lap top, keeping records, and performing other, similar paraprofessional job duties are required. Other duties will be assigned, in keeping with the program's model to serve children in the most effective manner.

Minimum Requirements: Like other Clinic positions, written proof of qualifications is required: Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. Specialists who understand and demonstrate independent initiative to perform in a team environment that endorses the family-driven, group decision making process at the heart of this model are preferred. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability is highly preferred. A valid California driver license and an insurable driving record by the Clinic are required, as is demonstrated calm demeanor and flexibility to meet clients' needs in this 24/7 mental health services program. .

Hours: Per program need with 24/7 coverage: Evening and weekend hours will be required and will vary, depending on the needs of children and families in the program.

Hourly Rate/Benefits: This position is placed on the Non-Management Salary Plan with an hourly rate DOE/DOQ, plus a choice of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a program of paid sick and holiday time, access to the USC Credit Union, and participation in two pension/retirements savings plans. Facilitator - Wraparound Program - Intensive Services Division

We will have an opening for a Facilitator in a Wraparound mental health services program.

Duties & Responsibilities: Facilitators work on a team providing services to children and their families/caregivers involved in the Los Angeles County foster care system using a Wraparound services delivery model. In Wraparound, the team does "whatever it takes" to assist high need children to be successful in school, home and their communities with the goal being to maintain children in community settings. Facilitators will lead the Child and Family teams to work directly with the children and family/caregivers per the Plan of Care in their respective environments, including but not limited to in homes, out-of-home placement(s), schools and/or in the community to help achieve permanent placement for the child(ren). Facilitators are responsible for: 1) convening the team and ensuring the continuity of care and that all identified services in the Plan of Care are provided, 2) ensuring the application of family-centered practice by the entire team, 3) serving as the contact point for children, families, service providers and the community, and 4) ensuring there is continuous input and feedback from the family and service providers. In addition, in accordance with the Child and Family Plan of Care, Facilitators will provide mental health assessments, crisis intervention and case management services through a Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Services contract. Use of own car, and timely completion of duties including but not limited to paperwork, keeping records, and performing other, similar paraprofessional job duties are required. Other duties will be assigned, in keeping with the program's model to serve children in the most effective manner.

Requirements: BA/MA/PhD in psychology or related field, two years experience with severely emotionally disturbed youth and DCFS/Probation consumers preferred. Applicants must understand and demonstrate independent initiative to perform in a team environment that endorses the family-driven, group decision-making process at the heart of this model. Bilingual Spanish speaking ability is highly preferred. A valid California driver license and an insurable driving record are required as are excellent computer skills to complete documentation in an electronic health records system and navigate a Clinic assigned laptop.

Hours: This is a 24hour/7 day per week program and the Facilitator will arrange and participate in this coverage with other team members, depending on the needs of children and families in the program.

Parent Partner, Wraparound Program-Full Time

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80 year history of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have an immediate opening for an energetic parent to work in our Wraparound program. The Parent will work as part of a multidisciplinary Child and Family Team supporting the provision of services to children and families. Program staff provides on-call & other services 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements: Under the guidance of the Facilitator, a Parent works as a member of the program's Child and Family Team. A parent partner shall have personal experience with navigating one of the public agencies: DCFS, Probation, DMH or the special education system. Referring Departments may include the Department of Children and Family Services, the Department of Mental Health, or the Probation Department. Parent Partners work closely with assigned Wraparound child(ren)'s parent/caregivers to represent their best interests and participate as members of the Child and Family team. Personal experience with a child in the system is required. This position is the primary contact for parents involved with the program. Makes regular home visits to families, facilitates interventions as appropriate, provides teaching and guidance to parents and caregivers to help them manage existing resources and access needed resources, develops and maintains positive, supportive relationships with parents and acts as liaison, models appropriate behavioral interventions, helps plan program events, participates in staff and other meetings; and completes paperwork in a timely and thorough manner. Must maintain professional boundaries. Other, similar duties will be assigned.

Parent Partners demonstrate a strong ability to communicate in a team and mobilize and motivate people. A demonstrated knowledge of child welfare and allied health services provided by the referring Departments is required, including experience with having a child involved in the system, as is experience maintaining strict confidentially. The successful applicant possesses verbal, bilingual Spanish speaking, written, organization and interpersonal skills. TB and fingerprint clearance requirements must also be met, per Clinic policy. Must drive own car, have valid CA driver license and insurable driving record at hire and throughout employment.

Hourly Rate and Benefits: Placed on Non-Management Salary Plan plus mileage, full time status. This position is placed on the Clinic's Non-Management Salary Plan. Receptionist/Support Clerk (Half-Time) Afternoon/Evening Hours (Bilingual English/Spanish Required)

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a private, non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with an 80 year history of service to the children of Central and South Los Angeles. We have a half time, immediate opening for a bilingual Receptionist/Support Clerk to work Monday through Friday, late afternoons until approximately 7pm. This position is assigned primarily to work at the Exposition Park location, and will also travel to work at any location to perform reception/support clerk tasks. This position is placed on the Non-Management Salary Plan.

Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements: Be part of a team using your excellent interpersonal and computer skills working with clients, visitors, staff and clinic data using both the Clinic’s EHR – Clinic Management Software System (aka ProFiler) and other computerized systems. As a team member, the Receptionist/Support Clerk is assigned to complete scheduling and support tasks using the electronic health record systems for clinician’s assignments and clients’ data.

The Receptionist/Support Clerk answers phone calls and routes calls, greets clients and answers questions, collects client paperwork and updates client information in an electronic health records system, checks and schedules appointments, performs medical insurance/Medi-Cal verifications, completes follow-up by phone on future appointments, greets and assists Clinic visitors and vendors and performs similar tasks in connection with assigned job duties, keeps reception/waiting area tidy, and completes other, similar job duties in a professional, pleasant and friendly manner.

That is, if you are selected for the position, you will access the computerized record system regarding clients to verify previous services, confirm current services; obtain MIS numbers for new services; input, update, verify, correct, track, print and distribute as necessary client profile (PFI) and other confidential information. This position works part time at one of three sites and will rotate between all three sites depending on the need for coverage.

Travel between all sites, within a six-mile radius using own, reliable transportation is required, as is a valid California driver license and driving record insurable by the Clinic throughout employment. Other duties will be assigned.

The position also requires the following: bilingual Spanish speaking ability: the ability to speak correct English and Spanish; dependability to work all assigned hours at any location; a pleasant and professional demeanor; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; good basic knowledge of all general office machines including a multi-line phone system; neat handwriting, correct spelling; the ability to remain calm and helpful while juggling multiple tasks in a busy medical-type office reception area and excellent computer skills to complete daily tasks.
